Fate Leads Us to Ziggy

Here we go! Welcome to our boulevard foursqure! Todd and I are a young couple in the process of fixing up our 1920 foursquare on a tree-lined boulevard. To us the house is a diamond in the rough. But I'm pretty sure our friends think we have lost our minds. Some days I'd agree with them.

It all started back in the spring of 2009 (cue the time travel music). While Todd and I were still dating, we decided to entertain ourselves on a Sunday afternoon by going to open houses. We went to about 8 or 10 in total. It got us talking about what we'd like in a house. I wanted character. Todd wanted an open layout.

When we walked through this house, we found both. We knew it was perfect. But each of us already owned our own place, and neither of us wanted to buy a house together before we were married. That was March.

Todd proposed in May (yay!).

The next week the sellers lowered the price. The house still hadn't sold.

It was fate. And you just don't mess with fate. So in June we put in an offer on the house. We moved in and got married that fall.

Now we're in the process of pulling the house out of the 1970s and making it our own.

A sneak peak of things we liked about our house:

Gorgeous woodwork.

Open layout. Lots of living space.

And the things we didn't care for as much:

The family tree painted in the stairway (wasn't our family after all).

Ziggy. We were born in the 70s but never really developed a taste for him.
So that's us in a nutshell. We're going at our house room by room. Eventually we'll be done. Actually, probably not. By then it will be time to start all over again.

  2. Actually, we have yet to kill him. He's still alive and kicking.

    For now...
